Simple Lodge Furniture Adds a Western Flair

These are attractive options for beds

If you’re a fan of “Old West” movies, TV shows or books, you know how much liberty fiction takes in order to romanticize the cowboy lifestyle. Riding the range, rounding up cattle and sleeping under the stars are all made to seem exciting. What these depictions conveniently leave out are the hot, dusty days and chilly nights that are typical when you live most of your life outdoors. Except for a few hardcore nature lovers, most people don’t want to mirror that particular lifestyle.

Regardless of the reality of it, the charm of the Old West remains strong, and its influence can be found in everything from rodeo-style home accents to lodge furniture. You can see it clearly in the design of the Rustic Natural Cedar Arched Log Bed. Bright Northern White Cedar logs are sanded to a smooth finish before being crafted into the pieces that make up this attractive bed. Log legs 5” in diameter provide strong support for the metal side rails, each of which is decoratively capped with more cedar wood. An optional metal support system may be added to larger bed sizes for more stability.

What about this simple bed makes it suitable for Western decor? Whether you choose to leave it unfinished or add extra protection with clear finish, the basic light color of the cedar wood remains the same. Sturdy straight lines in the footboard and an artfully arched log across the top of the headboard complete a look that can be paired with any style of home accent. Dress up the bed with some Western-themed sheets, grab a few throw pillows, toss on a rustic blanket and you’re good to go with all the charm the Old West has to offer.

These beds are even very affordable

Though some log beds can be expensive, the Arched Log Bed is priced for just about any budget. You’ll need to do a little assembly work when you first set it up, but once all the pieces are in place, you’ll have a beautiful focal point for your lodge- or ranch-style bedroom.

At $496.40, the twin sized Rustic Natural Cedar Arched Log Bed isn’t expensive at all! Visit the product link for more details on other available bed sizes.

I agree that being outside 24/7 is a hard and grueling existence. I would rather spend my nights in a nice cozy house, curled up on a rustic log bed that fuels dreams of a semi-fictitious Old West lifestyle. After all, a mattress is a much softer place on which to slumber than the cold, hard ground.
